Domestic project in Rugby. The client approached us at the Home Building and Renovation Show. The project consisted of a barn conversion. There was no existing heating system so GSHP was the natural choice. Given the amount of land surrounding the barn, a trenched horizontal ground array was the most cost effective option. We used our trenching machine which allows a narrow clean trench as apposed to a conventional digger.
The underfloor heating was designed and installed by the clients building contractor. As the UFH was not designed to achieve the lowest flow temperature, our heat pump is not working to its most efficient. This highlights the importance of the UFH design whilst installing the GSHP. Most clients will contract HEX Energy to install the GSHP and UFH to ensure that the heating system will always works at its most efficient.
